Turdus migraytorius
A very common 9 – 11 inch bird, native to Virginia all year round.
Males have dark head and tail with a grey upperside, a white eye-ring and rusty-orange breast and flanks.
Females are similar but lack the dark head and tail and have a duller breast and flanks.
Juveniles are similar to females but have a brown back and spotted breast.
American Robins eat insects, fruit, berries and worms. They will visit suet and mealworm feeders and occasionally seed feeders.
