Mimus polyglottos
A very common, 10 inch bird, native to Virginia all year round.
Males are grey with a light gray breast and belly. White wing patches show in flight or display.
Females are the same.
Juveniles are the duller with a streaked chest and lighter grey bill.
Northern Mockingbirds eat insects, fruit and occasionally suet. They love mealworms too! Male can sing up to 200 different songs during his lifetime. Only males sing in the spring until a mate is found. Males and females sing during other seasons.
